Introduction
Mountain lions, also known as cougars, are the biggest cats in North America and the fourth largest cat in the world. They are found in deserts, grasslands and forests, and are some of the most elusive predators in the state. Mountain lions are highly protective of their territories and are known for their speed, strength and agility. They are solitary animals and often hunt alone, but will occasionally hunt in pairs or small family groups. If you're lucky enough to spot one, please keep your distance and enjoy the sight from afar.
