Sedona started as a small farming settlement in 1876 and has since become the center for imaginative arts and holistic medical healing. Sedona boasts numerous varieties of galleries, shops and other tourist activities such as the famed Pink Jeep Tours and hiking in the local red rocks. It has been claimed that Sedona contains a concentration of vortexes which are spots that release psychic energy or power from the Earth, hence creating the mystical, magical feel of the area. The four local points which are considered to be energy vortexes are Bell Rock, Table Top Mountain, Cathedral Rock and Boynton Canyon. Sedona is located 130 miles from Phoenix and 30 miles from Flagstaff.
