Tubing in Arizona
Tubing in Arizona has become a popular activity to do for people come spring through the sumber months as a method of beating the heat. It is an activity that allows visitors and residents to get away, relax with friends, enjoy the beauty of the Sonoran Desert while letting the current do most of the work.
While most people who talk about going Tubing, are talking about enjoying a day on the Lower Salt River (renting a tube from a local establishment) Tubing, however, is just riding in an inner tube, either on the water, snow or through the air.
Their are two forms that are the most popular:
Water - There are two typs of water tubing that visitors enjoy:
Towed - Towed Tubing usually takes place on lakes or on large rivers. One or more riders tether their tubes to a motor boat and then are pulled through the water.
Free-Floating - Usually takes place on a river or stream where the riders are floating with the current of the water way.
Snow - Similar to sledding, this kind of tubing is almost always performed on a hill or a slope. The ridder uses gravity to slide to the bottom of the hill/slope, then return to the top to repeat the process.
Recently parks and attractions have created specially designed rides that consist of tidal waves, artificial rivers and water/snow slides in various shapes.
